Me&B
Me&B is a locally made fashion brand with product sizes ranging from 32 all the way 46, making size inclusivity a main priority. “We’re making fashion fun again,” says Kelly Gibberd, Head of Brand and Co-Owner of Me And B. The idea to locally produce size inclusive clothing and accessories sparked after Kelly and her mom faced countless disappointing shopping sprees due to retailers lacking their sizes. “We are not a size 32 or 34. Everything just made us feel like we had weird [bodies] and we were getting so frustrated,” she recalls. Using this frustration as fuel, Kelly and her mom were determined to provide a solution not only to their own fashion woes, but other women who may be experiencing the same issue. After lots of research, their newfound local and size inclusive fashion brand, Me And B, was launched in 2019. Listen as Kelly explains the origin and growth of Me And B on CapeTalk’s Breakfast Show with Refilwe Moloto.
Me&B
Why they were chosen
“ Me&B has employed a large number of staff since its launch just before the pandemic. The brand’s success not only benefits its employees but also Cape Town’s economy, as the products are made locally. Locally produced brands currently have a contrasting reputation, with highly accessible low-quality goods on the one side, and inaccessibly priced high-quality on the other. As a fashion brand, Me&B aims to improve that reputation by providing high-quality products that are both accessible and affordable. ”
